pondering the idea of a floor platform that moves

after the meeting with James and Uwe on fri i started looking into the idea of a floor platform which moves and distorts underneath the weight of the walking person( makes for a more interactive experience??) - could be the movement of air or water due to pressure changes.

ABOVE: FIrst attempt to use valves. We couldn't get the other modules to inflate from the small valve holes.




ABOVE: Second attempt. Larger gaps between modules allowed air in to the modules at a decreasing rate, making a delay pattern as it inflated as a whole.

construction

so here is an example in which we can create our forms from a piece of dropsheet. The simple dome sure looks easy to make compared to our current form.. providing my unwrapping is even accurate, which it probably isn't - but close enough to know its gonna be a pain to make.
